What the hell was Zombie Zoo anyway?

Zombie Zoo was a legendary Los Angeles nightclub attended by hundreds of creepy people. Host to many of LA's darker bands.

Zombie Zoo inhabited many locations, including Osko's cave, in Los Angeles and Hollyweird between 1986 through 1989. If you were there, you know what kind of shenanigans happened there. Too many stories to be told that really shouldn't be on the internet.

About That Awful Tom Petty Song....

Yes, it was written about us. No, we didn't name the club after the shitty Tom Petty song.

Tom Petty and Roy Orbison were hanging out in an all night diner in LA when they noticed a bunch of weirdos decked out in face paint, chains and black clothing going in and out. Striking up a conversation with some they realized these were just people getting ready for an underground dance at a club called The Zombie Zoo. Petty and Orbison didn’t know it at the time but they were witnessing the birth of the goth movement. They wrote a song about those kids, Apparently Tom Petty himself hated it. We attempted to get comped admission to one of his concerts. He said "No". Thanks a lot, Tom. What an #%hole
